 Re: Point Break
Point Break is a very underrated, but awesome action movie, which JC helped co-write (uncredited) for his ex-wife, Bigelow.
-Keanu in his perfect role (my friend always said he had a surfer accent lol) -Patrick swayze was great as the philosophical Bodhi . -The President's masks and bank robbery modus operandi lol -The chase sequence is simply the best foot chase. EVER. -and Keanu and the skydiving part, geez, heart pumping stuff.
-I just wished they had a better female lead.
You have to watch this movie at least once in your life.

 Re: Point Break
I agree on every point. The action is great, you cant possibly tell whats gonna happen next, the music's really good and the only bad thing is the female role. One of the better 90s action flicks

Izzy wrote: Think I'll, ahem, acquire this movie. There's not much point in getting the DVD. The "deleted scenes" aren't really scenes at all - they're, like, 5 second snippets at the end of some scenes that contribute absolutely nothing. However, there is a pretty good documentary, but the good people of Earth have uploaded it to YouTube There was also this cool little retrospective with two of the surfers - one was Bodhi's brother (I think) and the other was the tall, lean guy who snuck up behind Busey on the runway. They tour the various beaches where it was filmed and it's neat how casual and cool they seem. Anyway, though, the bottom line is that it's not some DVD with loads of awesome stuff. Any copy of it - however its obtained - is good enough. I thought I'd provided links to the documentary that I mentioned above when I first wrote this post, but here are the links, a few days later:

 Re: Point Break
Has anyone ever seen the original script from Peter Illiff? You can find the Bigelow/Cameron draft easily online but I've always been curious as to what the major changes were that Bigelow/Cameron actually went through the WGA arbitration process. In screenwriting circles (according to John August), it is generally agreed that "Point Break" is a Cameron action script.

In screenwriting circles (according to John August), it is generally agreed that "Point Break" is a Cameron action script. I don't know exactly what the changes were, but it's worth noting that the project was a mercenary one through-and-through. The reason I say that is because, in the documentary linked to above, Iliff details how he was actually hired to flesh out the idea that was proposed by Rick King. It went through several names ('Johnny Utah' and 'Riders on the Storm') as well as several stars (Johnny Depp and Charlie Sheen) and at least two directors (the other was Ridley Scott). Cameron himself said that there were "nine drafts" of it when it finally found its way to him. So tracing the narrative history of 'Point Break' is kind of like tracing the sex life of Scott Baio - it's messy, arduous, and probably impossible.
