The only movie he could be working on at the time would be Black Rain (1989) or Thelma and Louise (1991), both shot in US and none of them by Fox. One was from Metro Goldwyn Meyer, the other from Paramount, so... Eggsactly. Fincher is not only an ego driven diva and a sadist but a liar too

 Re: Alien 3
I don't think it's right to use an ad hominem to conclude that Fincher is lying. It's no anomaly for directors, especially big name directors, to travel between countries during projects.

 Re: Alien 3
Yeah, but it didnt make sense for him to be there. Going to Fox? In the middle of shotting a movie a long way from LA or UK for a completely different company?

 Re: Alien 3
Having checked the facts I also have a hard time believing about Ridley's visit. Ridley was shooting either Black Rain in New York for Paramount Pictures or Thelma & Louise for Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer in Utah and Bakersfield CA. Ridley had no business being in UK in Pinewood around that time. Another factor is that no one had ever mentioned it, not Ridley, not the producers, and not anybody from the crew or the cast.

 Re: Alien 3
No business in the UK? He's from the UK! He was also asked by FOX initially the direct the original 2-part Alien3. I don't see why he wouldn't be interested in popping into the studio, and I don't see why he wouldn't be welcome to. Considering the long gestation time the filming took, Ridley appearing for one day doesn't sound so farfetched, and travelling from the US to Europe is hardly an epic journey. A couple of days in England on business or leisure isn't hard to grasp? Directors fly all over the world all the time.

 Re: Alien 3
But doing 2 movies, one after the other and taking a special trip just to see Alien 3 in production? Sounds extremely far fetched. At least Weaver or the producers would mention it

I'm not saying it's impossible but it's very unlikely

 Re: Alien 3
I don't think that a low-key, unexpected quick visit would be all that publicised. There are many Alien tales which are largely absent from most reports, such as the Alien crew considering a tall woman to play the Alien, the Nostromo originally being bright yellow, Ridley's opinion of Aliens, and on.
